Mississippi

2/6/06-A bill has died that sought to expand the use of speed radar throughout the state.
HB643, sponsored by Rep. Chester Masterson, R-Vicksburg, remained in the House Transportation Committee at the deadline to advance to the full House.
Currently, Mississippi restricts the purchase and use of radar-speed-detection equipment to the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol.
Masterson’s bill would have allowed the sheriff’s deputies in any county to use radar on public streets, roads and highways of the county lying outside the limits of an incorporated city.
