3/13/06-A bill has died that sought to allow police to ticket drivers who fail to flip on their headlights during bad weather.
SB2331 remained in the Senate Highways and Transportation Committee at the deadline to advance to the full Senate, effectively killing it for the year.
The bill would have required lights to be on “whenever precipitation necessitates the use of windshield wipers.”
A similar House bill – HB357 – met the same fate.
1/10/06-A bill in the Senate Highways and Transportation Committee would allow police to ticket drivers who fail to flip on their headlights during bad weather.
Sponsored by Sen. Sidney Albritton, R-Picayune, SB2331 would require lights to be on “whenever precipitation necessitates the use of windshield wipers.”
Violators would face a $25 fine.
