5/24/06-Sen. David Hoyle, D-Gaston, has introduced a bill that would cap the state’s per-gallon tax on diesel and gasoline so that the rate will not increase from the current level.
The state’s fuel tax can change every six months because a portion is set on recent average wholesale prices. The tax increased 2.8 cents per gallon in January to 29.9 cents.
SB1201 is in the Senate Finance Committee. For bill status, call (919) 733-7779 or (919) 733-7778.
