10/16/06- A bill in the Senate Transportation Committee would toughen penalties for increasing the price of fuel more than once in a 24-hour period.
Sponsored by Sen. Nicholas Sacco, D-North Bergen, and Sen. Joseph Vitale, D-Woodbridge, S382 would fine fuel wholesalers up to $5,000 for a first offense. Subsequent offenses could result in a $10,000 fine.

An identical Assembly bill – A2215 – is in the Assembly Transportation and Public Works Committee.
