1/9/06-Gov. George Pataki wants to make both ethanol and biodiesel available at stations throughout the state as early as this year.
The New York Times reported that Pataki recently outlined a plan to make the alternative fuels available at the 27 service areas along the New York State Thruway, as well as at 100 more stations.
Pataki announced the plan in his State of the State address on Jan. 4. Further details of the plan – including costs and implementation strategy – will be made available later this month in Pataki’s budget proposal.
The plan would have to be approved by the Legislature.
It also includes incentives for the state to modify its hybrid-electric vehicles so they can be plugged into stationary outlets, The Times reported.
