5/1/06-A bill has died that would have required motor fuel taxes to be spent on transportation needs.
Sponsored by Sen. Daisy Lawler, D-Comanche, SB1028 remained in a Senate committee at the deadline to advance to the full Senate. The House previously passed it.
The bill would have redirected the 1.625 percent of gasoline taxes and 1.39 percent of diesel taxes that are currently deposited in the state’s general revenue fund into the transportation fund. The change would have provided more than $7 million additional dollars for roads and bridges.
