3/27/06-The Senate unanimously approved a bill March 23 that would outlaw the use of “radar jammers” as a way to avoid speeding tickets in the state.
Sponsored by Sen. Jamie Woodson, R-Knoxville, SB3702 would prohibit the sale, possession or use of devices designed to block law enforcement radar.
Anyone found to sell or posses a radar-jamming device would face a $50 fine and/or as much as 30 days. Using the device to interfere with police radar could result in a $500 fine and/or up to six months in jail.
The bill has been forwarded to the House for further consideration.
