2/17/06-A bill that sought to increase the per gallon tax on motor fuels by 5.5 cents has died.
HB1601, sponsored by Rep. Robert Hull, D-Falls Church, remained in the Senate Finance Committee Feb. 15 – the deadline to advance from the chamber to the House.
The bill also would have increased the motor carrier road tax by 5.5 cents per gallon of fuel used in the Commonwealth, and increased the alternative use fee for certain motor carriers from $100 to $150 (the fee is an alternative to paying the motor carrier road tax).
