10/10/06-A bill that would have prohibited all drivers from lingering in the passing lane on the state’s interstates has died.
Sponsored by Delegate John Welch, R-Virginia Beach, HB5033 remained in the House Transportation Committee at the deadline to advance from the chamber to the Senate.
The bill would have reserved the left lane for drivers passing other vehicles. Exceptions would have included exiting to the left and avoiding persons or debris.

9/20/06-A bill expected to draw consideration during the four-day special session on transportation that starts Wednesday, Sept. 27, would prohibit all drivers from lingering in the passing lane on the state’s interstates.
