2/17/06-The House Rules Committee voted 8-7 to defeat a measure that encouraged the Virginia Department of Transportation to halt negotiations for a large-scale widening project on Interstate 81 to be funded by tolls.
HJ143, sponsored by Del. Todd Gilbert, R-Woodstock, called for ending negotiations between the state and STAR Solutions to expand the interstate.
Instead, the nonbinding resolution directed the state to build one additional northbound and southbound lane.
