3/21/06-A bill has died that would have required all diesel sold in the state to contain at least 2 percent biodiesel and regular gasoline to contain 10 percent ethanol.
HB2666 remained in the House Technology, Energy and Communications Committee at the deadline to advance from the House to the Senate, effectively killing the bill.
The bill would have allowed an exemption to the requirements if there isn’t enough “competitively priced” Washington-based biodiesel or Washington-produced ethanol available to meet demand.
In addition, it would have changed current law to include ethanol or the manufacturing of ethanol to be eligible for tax exemptions or preferential tax rates currently available to promote biodiesel and alcohol fuel.
