3/21/06-A bill has died that would have required a 2-percent biodiesel blend for all diesel sold in the state by Dec. 1, 2008.
HB2738 was awaiting final approval before the full Senate when the session ended. It previously passed the House.
However, a similar bill – SB6508 – has been sent to Gov. Christine Gregoire’s desk.
2/13/06-The House voted 70-28 Feb. 10 to approve a bill that would require a 2-percent biodiesel blend for all diesel sold in the state by Dec. 1, 2008.
HB2738, sponsored by Rep. Janea Holmquist, R-Moses Lake, also would require all gasoline sold in the state to contain at least 2 percent ethanol by the same date.
In addition, it would create a biofuels advisory committee that would advise the Washington Department of Agriculture on setting the standards as well as provide rules for quality assurance.
The bill is in the Senate Water, Energy & Environment Committee.
