3/31/06-Gov. Christine Gregoire signed a bill March 30 creating a renewable fuel standard for the use of biofuels in the state.
The new law, previously SB6508, requires that 2 percent of the state’s consumption of gasoline and diesel be ethanol and biodiesel by Dec. 1, 2008. It also requires 20 percent of the fuel used by state agencies to be biodiesel.
3/7/06-The Senate has signed off on a bill that would create a renewable fuel standard for the use of biofuels in the state.
SB6508, which already passed the House, now heads to Gov. Christine Gregoire’s desk for her signature.

The bill has been sent back to the Senate for final approval.

2/13/06-The Senate voted 27-20 Feb. 13 to advance a bill that would create a state fuel standard that would require all gasoline and diesel fuels sold in Washington to contain at least 2 percent biofuel by 2008.
SB6508, sponsored by Sen. Marilyn Rasmussen, D-Eatonville, has been sent to the House for further consideration.
