4/13/06-Gov. Joe Manchin has signed a bill into law prohibiting cities from using automated cameras to ticket drivers.
The new law, previously HB4004, won widespread support in the Legislature.

3/23/06-The Legislature has approved a bill that would prohibit cities from using automated cameras to ticket drivers.
The Senate voted 26-8 earlier this month to advance the bill which passed the House 88-3 in February. The bill – HB4004 – now heads to Gov. Joe Manchin’s desk for his signature.
The cameras snap pictures of red-light runners or speeders. A ticket is mailed to the vehicles’ owners, regardless who was driving at the time.
