3/22/06-A bill has died that called for rolling back tolls on the West Virginia Turnpike.
HB4344, sponsored by Delegate Linda Sumner, R-Raleigh, remained in House Government Organization Committee when the session ended March 19, effectively killing it for the year.
As of Jan. 1, tolls on the turnpike were raised at each of the three toll plazas from $4.25 to $7 for five-axle trucks and from $1.25 to $2 for passenger vehicles.
The bill also would have paid off bonds and turned the authority over to the highway department.
