6/4/07-A bill has died that sought to permit police to install cameras at traffic lights to catch those running red lights.
The cameras snap pictures of red-light runners’ vehicles and license plates. Regardless who was driving at the time, vehicle owners have tickets mailed to them.
Sponsored by Rep. David Grimes, R-Montgomery, HB24 would have fined violators up to $100. Offenses wouldn’t have counted against driving records or insurance rates.
