3/30/07-A bill has stalled on the House floor that initially sought to prohibit novice drivers from using cell phones while at the wheel.
Sponsored by Rep. Jim McClendon, R-Springville, HB42 was sidelined after several proposed changes to the bill were offered.
The bill initially would have banned drivers 17 and younger from using any cell phone or wireless communication device while driving. Violators would have faced $150 fines and three points against their licenses.
3/19/07-The House Public Safety Committee approved a bill that would prohibit novice drivers from using cell phones while at the wheel.
