2/2/07-A bill in the Senate Agriculture and Health committees is part of a legislative package that would impose mandatory food-safety regulations on the state's lettuce and spinach growers.
Sponsored by Sen. Dean Florez, D-Shafter, SB202 would require growers, handlers, and processors of leafy green vegetables to employ a Julian numbered and dated trace-back system so that every product can be followed throughout the production distribution system from the field to the consumer.
