3/22/07-A bill has died that sought to increase safety and reduce highway maintenance costs by removing trucks that are deemed unsafe.
Sponsored by Sen. Donald Williams, D-Brooklyn, SB438 remained in the Joint Committee on Transportation at the March 19 deadline to advance, effectively killing it for the year.
The bill required that the Greenwich weigh station on Interstate 95 be kept open 18 hours a day to increase truck inspections. The hours of operation would have rotated on a regular basis.
