6/5/07-Gov. Sonny Perdue signed a bill into law to hold utility companies' feet to the fire on road work.
The new law, previously SB19, holds utility companies responsible for construction delays if they don't move their lines quickly enough. Companies found in violation would be responsible for paying road contractors.
It takes effect July 1.

Previously SB19, the new law holds utility companies responsible for construction delays if they don't move their lines quickly enough. Companies found in violation would be responsible for paying road contractors.

4/23/07-The House approved a bill that would hold utility companies' feet to the fire on road work. It now heads to Gov. Sonny Perdue's desk. The Senate previously approved it.
Sponsored by Sen. Jim Whitehead, R-Evans, SB19 would hold utility companies responsible for construction delays if they don't move their lines quickly enough. Companies found in violation would be responsible for paying road contractors.
