3/13/07-Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter has signed a bill into law that provides for permanent registration for trailers and semi-trailers in the state.
The new law, previously HB38, replaces the rule that allowed an extended registration of up to seven years.
An analysis of the bill said there are about 1,200 seven-year plates issued annually to renew trailer registrations at $112. Eliminating the fee could cost the state more than $19,000 in annual revenue. The loss in revenue is expected to be partly offset by the elimination of administrative costs associated with the plate program.
