3/14/07-A bill has died that would have required state agencies pursuing privatization deals to publish plans that include details about the potential cost savings, and the impact on state employees and state assets.
Sponsored by Sen. Tim Lanane, D-Anderson, SB53 missed a deadline to advance, effectively killing it for the year.
The bill would also have required state agencies to hold hearings on plans and report the results to the public and the Budget Committee. The panel would have been responsible for reviewing privatization plans before implementation and make advisory recommendations to the governor.
