3/9/07-A bill has died that would have charged higher tolls on the Kansas Turnpike based on vehicle speed.
Sponsored by Sen. David Haley, D-Kansas City, SB205 remained in the Senate Transportation Committee at the deadline to advance from the chamber, effectively killing it for the year.
The bill would have allowed the Kansas Turnpike Authority to charge drivers extra if they speed on the road. Drivers' speed would have been determined by looking at the time vehicles entered and exited the turnpike. Toll amounts would have been determined by the Turnpike Authority.
