5/24/07-The House has killed a bill that would have criminalized talking on cell phones while driving.
Sponsored by Rep. A.G. Crowe, R-Pearl River, HB99 initially focused its attention on prohibiting drivers in the state from talking on hand-held and “hands-free” cell phones while driving through a school zone.
An amendment attached to the bill on the House floor prohibited the use of hand-held devices while driving throughout the state. House lawmakers then voted 48-43 to kill the revised effort.
