3/9/07-A bill in the House Ways and Means Committee would increase the state's fuel taxes by 10 cents per gallon.
Sponsored by Delegate Sheila Hixson, D-Silver Spring, HB821 would increase the per gallon tax for diesel from 24.5 cents to 34.5 cents. The gas tax would increase from 23.5 cents per gallon to 33.5 cents per gallon.
The bill includes a mechanism for the tax rate to automatically increase with the price of fuel.
