6/22/07-A bill in the Senate Transportation Committee would limit the use of engine brakes near residences.
Sponsored by Sen. Jud Gilbert, R-Algonac, SB61 would allow local governments to prohibit the use of truck compression brakes on portions of state trunkline highways within their jurisdictions as long as they are within 200 yards of residential areas.
