4/24/07-The Senate Ways and Means Committee approved a bill that would create a tax credit for installing idle reduction technology.
Sponsored by Rep. Jay Wasson, R-Nixa, HB488 would allow individuals or businesses to claim an income tax credit equal to 50 percent of the amount paid to purchase and install idle reduction technology on class 8 trucks. The maximum amount of the tax credit would be $3,500 per truck.
The provisions in the bill would sunset two years after Aug. 28, 2007.
The bill now heads to the Senate Rules Committee on its way to the Senate floor. If approved there, it would head to Gov. Matt Blunt’s desk. The House already approved it.
