5/24/07-A bill has died that would have create a tax credit for the use of idle reduction technology.
Sponsored by Sen. Bill Stouffer, R-Napton, SB202 remained in the Senate Ways and Means Committee when the session ended, effectively killing it for the year.
The bill would have allowed individuals or businesses to claim an income tax credit equal to 50 percent of the amount paid to purchase and install idle reduction technology on trucks with a gross vehicle weight exceeding 34,000 pounds. The maximum amount of the tax credit would have been $3,500, per truck.
The provisions in the bill would have sunset two years after Aug. 28, 2007.
A related effort - HB488 - has been forwarded to Gov. Matt Blunt's desk.
