5/24/07-A bill has died that would have set enforcement standards for red-light violations.
The cameras snap pictures of red-light runners or speeders. A ticket is mailed to the vehicles’ owners, regardless who was driving at the time.
Sponsored by Sen. John Griesheimer, R-Washington, SB280 remained in the Senate Judiciary and Civil & Criminal Jurisprudence Committee when the session ended, effectively killing it for the year.
The bill would have prohibited violations from being considered moving violations. Offenses wouldn’t have counted against driving records or insurance rates.
