1/18/08-Gov. Jon Corzine signed a bill into law Jan. 13 that is intended to make it easier for drivers with suspended licenses to keep their driving privileges.
The new law, previously S2326, gives judges or the Motor Vehicle Commission the option to suspend a vehicle registration rather than the driver’s license. The provision allows such people as employees of construction services and people with jobs that require a valid driver’s license to continue to work but only drive vehicles registered by their employers.
The new law takes effect July 1.

Sponsored by Sen. Shirley Turner, D-Mercer, S2326 now moves to Gov. Jon Corzine’s desk. The Senate previously approved it.
