1/18/08-Gov. Jon Corzine signed a bill into law Jan. 13 that reduces the severity of license suspensions for certain people.
The new law, previously S2332, allows judges to work out payment plans for motor vehicle fines and fees for drivers who can show they meet certain financial hardship criteria. It also waives up to $200 of any non-DUI fine owed by such individuals and replace it with community service.
The new law takes effect July 1.

Sponsored by Sen. Shirley Turner, D-Mercer, S2332 now moves to Gov. Jon Corzine’s desk. The Senate previously approved it.
