12/6/07-Assembly Republicans say they are planning to introduce a bill that would require the New York Thruway Authority to get approval from lawmakers before increasing toll rates.
The planned legislation is in reaction to a planned toll increase on the thruway.
Another measure that could be offered would remove the Canal Corporation from the Thruway Authority’s control.
Supporters of the action say removing the money-losing corporation from the authority’s control would make toll hikes unnecessary.
