5/24/07-A bill has died that would have required drivers in the state to keep their hands off the phone.
SB293 remained in the Senate Judiciary Committee when the session ended, effectively killing it for the year.
The bill would have prohibited hand-held cell phone use while driving. Talking on a phone equipped with a “hands-free” device would still have been permitted.
Emergency calls would have been exempted.
