OOIDA Call to Action - Pennsylvania Members
October 2, 2007
Attn: Pennsylvania truck drivers!
Please contact your U.S. Sens. Arlen Specter, R, and Robert Casey Jr., D, and ask them to support keeping tolls off Interstate 80. From what we understand, Sen. Specter doesn’t want to get involved and Sen. Casey is “on the fence.” Both need to know how you feel and how tolls on I-80 will affect your livelihood.
As you know, Gov. Edward Rendell and a majority of state lawmakers in Harrisburg voted in July to turn I-80 into a toll road.
So far, the only hitch in their plan has come from U.S. Reps. John Peterson and Phil English, both Pennsylvania Republicans, who were able to cut off federal money for converting I-80 to a toll road in the House version.
We need the U.S. Senate to do the same!
Please contact your U.S. Sens. Arlen Specter and Robert Casey, and urge them to lead the effort in the U.S. Senate to cut off federal funds for converting I-80 to a toll road.
This would be bad for your trucking business and every other Pennsylvania business anywhere close to I-80.
Here is the contact information for your U.S. senators:
