6/18/07-Gov. Rick Perry signed a bill into law authorizing semi-trailer owners to register them for a period of five years. State law now limits five-year registration to people who own at least 50 semi-trailers.
The new law, previously HB2992, takes effect Sept. 1.

Sponsored by Rep. Jim Murphy, R-Houston, HB2992 has been sent to Gov. Rick Perry’s desk. The House already approved it.
If signed into law, it would take effect Sept. 1.
