6/4/07-A bill has died in the Senate Transportation and Homeland Security Committee that was intended to minimize the attractiveness for groups to pursue deals with the state to build roads in return for keeping revenues.
Existing state law permits the state to enter into public-private contracts for up to 70 years.
Sponsored by Sen. John Carona, R-Dallas, SB275 would have limited the duration of the contracts to 30 years.
