OOIDA Information Update - Utah Members
February 9, 2007

Attention Utah truckers! State Rep. Sheryl L. Allen, R-Bountiful, has filed a bill that would reduce the speed of trucks by 10 mph on rural stretches of interstates and limited-access highways in your state. All other vehicles would be allowed to continue to travel at the current speed limit.

At this time the bill - HB199 - is awaiting assignment to committee. Please take the time to contact your state representative and let him or her know how important this issue is. Lawmakers need to know that split speed limits will make highways less safe by causing cars and trucks to be in constant conflict.

To e-mail your state representative, visit www.le.state.ut.us/house/members2005/membertable1add.asp. If you need to find out who your lawmakers are, visit vote-smart.org/index.htm, type in your ZIP code, click on your representative's name, and it will take you to their home page where you can then e-mail your response.

You can also call the OOIDA Membership Department at 1-800-444-5791 and they can look up the information for you.
