2/22/07-The House and Senate approved a bill that would fine people who smoke or use an open flame within 20 feet of fuel pumps or fuel tankers. Offenders would face up to $500 fines. If a fire or explosion results, violators would face up to 12 months in jail and/or up to $2,500 fines.
HB1653 now heads to Gov. Tim Kaine's desk.

2/16/07-The House approved a bill that would fine people who smoke or use an open flame within 20 feet of fuel pumps. Offenders would face up to six months in jail and/or up to $1,000 fines.
Sponsored by Delegate Ward Armstrong, D-Collinsville, HB1653 has since received the backing of the Senate Transportation Committee. It now is in the Senate Courts of Justice.

1/10/07-A bill in the House Courts of Justice Committee would fine people who smoke or use an open flame within 25 feet of fuel pumps.
Under HB1653, sponsored by Delegate Ward Armstrong, D-Collinsville, offenders would face up to six months in jail and/or up to $1,000 fines.
