2/16/07-The House Committee on General Laws has tabled a bill that would have helped fund transportation work in the state. The Senate previously approved it.
Sponsored by Sen. Thomas Norment Jr., R-Williamsburg, SB1410 sought to establish "instant racing," a game in which bettors would wager on horse races long after they have been won.
The majority of the profits, 51.5 percent, would have been earmarked for the transportation trust fund.
