2/16/07-A bill has died that would have allowed the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority to impose and collect tolls on new roads and added lanes.
Sponsored by Sen. Ken Cuccinelli II, R-Fairfax, SB782 remained in the Senate Finance Committee at the deadline to advance to the full chamber, effectively killing it for the year.
The bill also would have allowed the issuance of bonds supported by revenues generated by tolls.
In addition, every agency having control of toll facilities in northern Virginia would have been required to be capable of fully automatic electronic operation.
