3/22/07-A bill has died that would have prohibited people who hold instruction permits and intermediate licenses from using hand-held and hands-free devices while driving. Violation of the ban would have been a primary offense.
Sponsored by Dawn Morrell, D-Puyallup, HB1153 was awaiting consideration on the House floor at the deadline to advance from the chamber, effectively killing it for the year. The House Transportation Committee previously approved it.
The bill would have exempted using the devices for emergency calls.
