1/4/08-AB399 remained in committee when the 2007 session closed. It can be brought back for consideration during the session that begins Jan. 15.
6/20/07-Rep. Tom Nelson, D-Kaukauna, has offered a bill that would not require a state of emergency before the prosecution of retailers and wholesalers for overcharging consumers.
Under current state law, first-time offenders can get off with warnings. AB399 would set fines of at least $10,000, per occurrence.
The bill is in the Assembly Judiciary and Ethics Committee.
