6/2/08-A bill has died that sought to allow the state’s Toll Road, Bridge and Tunnel Authority to enter into public-private partnerships. Private entities would have been allowed to build and collect tolls on roads and bridges.
HB70 was awaiting final consideration on the Senate floor when the regular session ended, effectively killing it for the year. The House previously approved it.

5/5/08-The Senate Commerce, Transportation and Utilities Committee voted 6-1 to advance a bill that would allow the state’s Toll Road, Bridge and Tunnel Authority to enter into public-private partnerships. Private entities would be allowed to build and collect tolls on roads and bridges.
HB70 has moved to the Senate floor. The House already approved it on a 96-3 vote.

2/28/08-The House voted 96-3 to approve a bill that would move the state a step closer to having toll roads. It now moves to the Senate.
