6/2/08-A bill has died that was intended to help replace bad bridges.
Sponsored by Sen. Larry Means, D-Attalla, SB357 was “indefinitely postponed.”
The bill sought to allot a $275 million bond issue for structurally deficient county bridges. The funding would have gone for fixing 1,576 bridges with low sufficiency ratings.
The House version – HB466 – also died.
4/14/08-The Senate Economic Expansion and Trade Committee voted unanimously to approve a bill that is intended to help replace bad bridges throughout the state.
Sponsored by Sen. Larry Means, D-Attalla, SB357 would allot a $275 million bond issue for structurally deficient county bridges. The funding would go for fixing 1,576 bridges with low sufficiency ratings.
The bill is awaiting consideration on the Senate floor. If approved there, it would move to the House.
