5/7/08-Gov. Janet Napolitano has vetoed legislation that would have reduced the penalty in Arizona for illegally carrying concealed weapons.
State law now allows for $2,500 fines and/or six months in jail for people found in violation. HB2630 sought to limit penalties to $300 fines.
Napolitano said the current penalties are appropriate.
4/24/08-A bill awaiting consideration on the Senate floor would reduce the penalty for illegally carrying concealed weapons. Violators would face fines up to $300. State law now allows for $2,500 fines and/or six months in jail.
