8/27/08-Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a bill into law Aug. 26 that revises a transit initiative to be included on the November ballot. The bond initiative is Proposition 1.
The new law, previously AB3034, modifies a question on the statewide ballot asking voters whether to approve $9.95 billion in government bonds to help foot the cost for the high speed rail service.
The bonding would be used to help pay for a $42 billion transit system that will enable a 200 mph “bullet train” that could go from San Francisco to Los Angeles in about two and one half hours.
