5/2/08-A bill has died that sought to put passenger limits on young drivers.
Sponsored by Sen. Evelyn Lynn, R-Ormond Beach, S282 would have prohibited drivers under age 18 from transporting more than three passengers under age 18 during the first six months after obtaining their licenses. Exceptions would have been made for relatives.
Violations would have been secondary offenses.
An identical House bill – HB77 – also died.
11/29/07-A bill prefiled for the 2008 regular session would put passenger limits on young drivers.
Sponsored by Sen. Evelyn Lynn, R-Ormond Beach, S282 would prohibit drivers under age 18 from transporting more than three passengers under age 18 during the first six months after obtaining their licenses. Exceptions would be made for relatives.
Violations would be secondary offenses.
The bill is awaiting assignment to committee for the session that begins in March.
