4/14/08-A bill has died that sought to prohibit government agencies from enacting policies that give sanctuary to illegal immigrants. The House didn’t agree to Senate changes in the bill – SB340.
2/20/08-The Senate voted 45-8 to approve a bill that would prohibit government agencies from enacting policies that give sanctuary to illegal immigrants. It now moves to the House.
Sponsored by Sen. Chip Pearson, R-Dawsonville, SB340 would cut state funding to local governments that do not cooperate with federal officials trying to enforce immigration laws.
