6/4/08-A bill is likely dead for the year that sought to eliminate the speed limit differential between trucks and other vehicles on rural, interstate highways.
State law requires large vehicles to travel 10 mph below the 65 mph speed limit for other vehicles.
Sponsored by Rep. Jil Tracy, R-Mount Sterling, HB4561 called for allowing vehicles weighing more than 8,000 pounds to travel 65 mph on rural interstates. Interstates outside Chicago and surrounding counties would not be affected.
