1/31/08-A bill has died that would have allowed allow local authorities to establish temporary maximum speed limits in temporary traffic control zones during special events.
Sponsored by Sen. Phil Boots, R-Crawfordsville, SB53 remained in the Senate Homeland Security, Transportation & Veterans Affairs Committee at the deadline to advance from the chamber, effectively killing it for the year.
Under the bill, drivers found in violation of the posted speed limit in a temporary traffic control zone would have faced up to $1,000 fines.

1/2/08-Sen. Phil Boots, R-Crawfordsville, has filed legislation for consideration during the upcoming regular session that would allow local authorities to establish temporary maximum speed limits in temporary traffic control zones during special events.
Drivers found in violation of the posted speed limit in a temporary traffic control zone would face up to $1,000 fines.
SB53 is awaiting assignment to committee.
